Take-Home-Message (Equipment for Homeoffice)
15 December 2020
As expected, there has been another presidential directive. Regrettably, as with all 9 preceding instructions (Dienstanweisungen), the academic staff council was not consulted in advance, but only informed afterwards, at the same time as all other members of the university.
This is all the more regrettable in that we would have liked to have been in a position to make your work from home easier during the closure of the university scheduled to last until 10 January; we were hoping to amend the instruction accordingly. There is, however, some GOOD NEWS: At least we were able to get a promise from the chancellor (Kanzler) at the general staff meeting that academic staff may take home IT peripherals (especially monitors) on loan from the office. Unfortunately, this information is not included in the latest ‘Dienstanweisung’. However, the promise has been made.
You may therefore proceed as follows:
- Arrange the loan with your acting head of department or project coordinator (Dienstvorgesetzter). If necessary, you may use the ‘borrowing form’ with the link provided here. Please give the completed ‘borrowing form’ to your supervisor and place a copy in the original location of the equipment. Please be careful to ensure safe transport.
- If you do not have a suitable mobile computer for your home office, please obtain informal confirmation of your requirement from your acting head of department or project coordinator(s), and send your request to the IT service for your department. From there, the needs will be communicated to the IT center (RRZ) so that, according to our information, a notebook can be made available to you as soon as possible.
We hope this makes your work easier.
With our best wishes for a merry Christmas and a happy New Year
The Academic Staff Council - WIPR
